What's New

The Anchorage Park Foundation and the Parks & Recreation Department worked with the Northeast Anchorage Parks Committee and the Creekside Elementary Parent and Teacher Association to plan extensive improvements to Creekside Park. Creekside Park plays an important role in the Northeast community because it provides playspace and recreational facilities for students at Creekside Elementary School next door.

Community volunteers accomplished the following “fix-its” in Creekside Park in Summer 2010:

  • Repaired the tennis court by installing sturdy new nets to restore the tennis courts for playable use;
  • Removed graffiti and re-painted equipment;
  • Installed updated park signs;
  • Installed new picnic tables and benches; and
  • Replaced unsafe play equipment.

Thanks to the Northeast Very Important Parks (VIP) Committee for their involvement in prioritizing repairs and recruiting volunteers!

The APF is proud to fund neighborhood park fix-its with support from the Rasmuson Foundation & the Alaska State Legislature.

Park History

In 1979, ten acres of land were acquired with bonds and Land & Water Conservation Funds. In 1981, a parking area, picnic area and landscaping were added to the park. The park was named for its neighbor, Creekside Elementary School.
