As part of a 2006 Anchorage Park Foundation Challenge Grant,Turnagain neighbors, community council volunteers, and an Eagle Scout are working together to improve this pocket park. Visible improvements to date feature a new fence that dramatically enhances the aesthetics of the park. Progress has also been made in assembling community members to support the project, drafting design elements, fundraising and gaining community feedback, as well as the installed fencing.
This piece of property was dedicated as a park in 1971. The park is bordered by Clay Products Road which led to the old Anchorage, where bricks were produced of clay from the Cook Inlet. The site where the park is was at one time a water well for Spenard Utilities, which is now owned by AWWU.
