Huffman Park

12251 Lorraine St.

2010-2011 Challenge grant awarded to Trinity Presbyterian Church, Huffman Elementary PTA & Huffman O'Malley Community Council

Project partners raised more than $15,000 in matching funds and volunteer hours to make improvements at Huffman Park Summer 2011. On Saturday, April 30, 2011, volunteers and Boy Scouts gathered to kick of the project and begin work making trail improvements, adding picnic tables and benches and removing the dilapidated and unsafe exercise stations. Community members have donated mulch material for trail resurfacing. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held in August 2011.

Park History

The parkland was purchased in 1980 with state and Park & Recreation bond monies. The park is named for the road it lies near, Huffman Road. The park is located next to Huffman Elementary School which gives the school easy access to the park. It was built for the community with involvement for planning. The committee objectives were to acquire and preserve open recreational opportunities and to be made available to all citizens and those in nearby locations.
