Park History

In 1981, the community requested that this property be placed on the Capital Improvement list and purchased as park land. The original owner donated a portion of the value of the land to the city but did not wish to have the park named for him. The park was originally called Towne East Park. In 1988, Mr. Ira Walker donated soil to start development of the park. In 1997, the
park was renamed Ira Walker Park.
