Park History

This parkland was acquired by Federal Patent in 1954, and originally called McKinley View Park. In the late 1970’s, tour buses began coming to this area to showcase the beautiful view.

In 1993, the playground was developed through donations and volunteer efforts. In 1994, the community requested expansion of the park and additional land and play equipment were added. In 1997, the community requested a change of name for the park. They wanted to rename the park after Suzan Nightingale McKay, a writer, journalist and teacher who passed away in 1996. This was approved in 1997, and the park was recently updated with new equipment in 2003.
