Capital Projects Update:
Your Opportunity to Advocate for Your Neighborhood Park

We are proud to announce that Anchorage legislators have requested capital funding for many of our high priority park improvement projects, including:

VolunteersPlease join us is asking Governor Sean Parnell to support and approve funding for these small, community-identified and community-supported projects. As you communicate with Governor Parnell, please remember that these projects:

  • Were identified by the community through the Anchorage Parks Report Card and community council participation;
  • Benefit from active community council support with many of you participating in Very Important Park Committees to prioritize use of funds;
  • Enjoy support from Mayor Dan Sullivan;
  • Offer matching funding opportunities from 2007 municipal parks bonds and the Rasmuson Foundation; and
  • Include many opportunities for volunteer participation.

If your project has support from a diverse collection of community groups, we recommend listing these groups in your letter. This is your opportunity to let the Governor know that the people of Anchorage love their parks and are willing to support them with their volunteer time and financial contributions.

Thank you for supporting Anchorage parks!
