Thanksgiving Special 2011

Top 10 Things We Are Thankful For

10. S-N-O-W!

9. The great wealth of frozen lakes, lagoons, and public rinks we have to take our kids ice skating on.

8. Anchorage Parks Superintendent Holly Spoth-Torres and her dedicated staff for working tirelessly to make our parks and trails vibrant and world-class.

7. "Moms With A Cause." They are making our dream of the first 100% accessible playground in Alaska a reality Summer 2012.

6. The uniquely Alaskan quality of life we share and love. Where else can you see a moose while skiing to work?!

5. The Alaska State Legislature, because a nice sized capital budget means jobs, jobs, jobs.

4. The Rasmuson Foundation, for matching donations to the Anchorage Park Foundation dollar for dollar.

3. Teens who can't wait until the Youth Employment in Parks jobs are announced!

2. Our volunteers who pick up shovels year after year and help make neighborhood park improvements. These are OUR parks!

1. Our amazing donors who ensure that our city's legacy of parks and trails is preserved for future generations.

With gratitude,

Beth Nordlund
