Anchorage Park Foundation: Healthy Parks, Healthy People

Foster a Flower

The Anchorage Park Foundation is proud to support the Foster a Flower program in 2008.  Your generous contributions will support quality of life in downtown Anchorage & Spenard. The beautiful hanging flower baskets you see every summer create a vibrant city and may be fostered for $75. Foster two baskets for $150 and we will display a plaque on a light post recognizing your donation.

Flowers add beauty to our city all summer long.  The Municipality hangs over 1,000 baskets in downtown, Ship Creek, Spenard and Mountain View.  The Foster a Flower program was developed as a way to promote stewardship of our city.  As an active member of our community we urge everyone to be a part of the beauty.

Fostering two baskets is a great way to gain recognition or celebrate and honor a loved one.

Plaque Locations

Take a look at the map of downtown Anchorage to request where you would like your plaque to be.

The baskets you see from 4th Avenue and north are sapphire lobelia (blue) and triploid marigolds (gold). The lobelia baskets are a great representation of the Alaska state flag colors.  The baskets located along 6th avenue and along Spenard are ivy geraniums.  The baskets will be on display around the third week of May.  Download an application today!

All participants receive a self-adhesive window display sticker.  All donations are tax-deductible.
