What is Foster a Flower?

Each summer, Anchorage hangs over 1,000 flower baskets in the downtown, Ship Creek, Spenard and Mountain View neighborhoods.  Your contributions to the Foster a Flower program will "foster" one of these beautiful baskets adding color to our city. You can foster one basket for $75. Foster two baskets for $150 and we will display a plaque on a light post recognizing your donation. Take a look at the map of downtown Anchorage to request your plaque location. 

Fostering two baskets is a great way to build recognition or to celebrate and honor a loved one. It makes a great Mother's Day gift as well!

What kind of flowers am I fostering?

The baskets you see from 4th Avenue to the north are composed of sapphire lobelia and triploid marigolds, mimicking the Alaska state flag colors.  The baskets located along 6th Avenue and in Spenard are composed of ivy geraniums.

Support Foster a Flower by credit card by clicking below, or donations may be accepted via phone, fax or mail as well.  Donations will be accepted at any time but to receive a plaque(s) you must submit you application and payment by May 15th.
