  • Delaney ParkAlaska Pacific University
    October 25, Campbell Lake Park

    Students swept, raked and picked up trash.

    9 volunteers logged 9 hours.

  • Taku ParkThe Natural Resources and Work Readiness Classes from the King Career Center volunteered in three parks this semester.

    Sept. 11th – Oct. 8th, Muldoon Park
    The project goal was to remove potential fire hazards and promote visibility around corners. 16 students and 2 teachers logged 351 hours.

    Oct. 24th & 28th, Rovenna Park
    Due to recent beaver activity, six hazard trees needed to be removed. The class also placed fencing around trees that were potential beaver targets. 16 students and 3 teachers logged 57 hours.

    October 9th – 12th, Taku Lake
    Students removed brush and did some selective thinning of small trees to promote visibility. 36 volunteers logged 198 hours.

    King Career Center volunteers logged 606 hours.

    23 kids age 10-13 raked the sandy beach, picked up trash and removed brush.

    Volunteers trimmed back branches at the Jodphur Parking Lot and picked up trash at the gazebo and along the disk golf course.

    July 19, Forest Service 100 Year Anniversary
    Volunteers helped with event activities at the Hilltop Chalet.

    Volunteers worked with Anchorage Waterways Council, removing a beaver dam, harvesting and planting trees.

    Volunteers painted benches, rails, trash containers, and over grafitti.

    July 12, Chugach Foothills Park
    Volunteers brushed out dead trees around the playground for better visability.

    14 youth logged 336 volunteer hours.
