2010 Challenge Grant

Avid tennis player and Alaska Tennis Association member William Bittner has secured a $44,000 contribution from the Hendrickson Family to resurface the tennis courts at Lyn Ary Park. These courts are extremely popular and receive almost constant use in the summertime. Improvements to be completed include:

• Begin work approximately May 20; ready for play mid-July (weather dependent)
• Temporarily remove fencing for equipment access; remove old asphalt and curb; grade and slope for proper drainage; apply new asphalt (cure time 3 to 4 weeks)
• Apply new tennis court surface install new posts and nets, reinstall fence, install signage with court rules & court name
• Court surface will match the recently completed 9th avenue court
• Potential installation of one set of small bleachers on the east side of the courts similar to the arrangement on the 9th avenue courts.
