Tips on Getting Involved
- Participate in online forums or blogs that engage the public on important community issues
- Write a letter to your Assembly person or State Legislators if you are concerned about specific parks
- Spend time in your neighborhood parks. Positive community use of parks discourages negative use of parks
- Take a greenhouse tour and talk to the horticulturalists about volunteering (for information, please visit www.muni.org/parks)
- Take responsibility for a flower bed in your neighborhood
- Organize a community group to apply for an Anchorage Park Foundation Challenge Grant
- Apply for community grants (for example, REI)
- Check the Anchorage Park Foundation website often for news on projects and programs. Sign up for quarterly enewsletters to keep informed
- Become a “friend” of the Anchorage Park Foundation on Facebook
- Circulate petitions or support legislation and projects that will improve Anchorage parks
- Report graffiti in your park to Graffiti Busters at 343-4663 (343-GONE)
