Anchorage Park Foundation: Healthy Parks, Healthy People

Tips on Getting Involved

  • Participate in online forums or blogs that engage the public on important community issues
  • Write a letter to your Assembly person or State Legislators if you are concerned about specific parks
  • Spend time in your neighborhood parks.  Positive community use of parks discourages negative use of parks
  • Take a greenhouse tour and talk to the horticulturalists about volunteering (for information, please visit www.muni.org/parks)
  • Take responsibility for a flower bed in your neighborhood
  • Organize a community group to apply for an Anchorage Park Foundation Challenge Grant
  • Apply for community grants (for example, REI)
  • Check the Anchorage Park Foundation website often for news on projects and programs. Sign up for quarterly enewsletters to keep informed
  • Become a “friend” of the Anchorage Park Foundation on Facebook
  • Circulate petitions or support legislation and projects that will improve Anchorage parks
  • Report graffiti in your park to Graffiti Busters at 343-4663 (343-GONE)
