What is your favorite park and why?
My favorite park is Kincaid. I like it because of its location; it's right by my house. I also like it because it is a multi-use park. You can go out for picnics, sporting events, individual events. It is a park that is maximally used for its people. There is something there for everyone.
Do you have any favorite park memories?
Well, riding bikes with my kids. I also helped expand the public chalet that is there and that was very nice to see.
How have you used the park?
I run, bike, Nordic ski, picnic, go to receptions.
How long have you been using the park?
I have been using it my whole life -- since the sixties.
What are your hopes for the future of the park?
I want to see an indoor sports complex go in; one with a hockey rink and a track. I think it would be good to have an Olympic size sports complex, so that if Anchorage hosted the Olympics we would have something. I would also like to see improvement in transportation so more people could go out to the park.
How do you see the role of parks in your community?
I see them as integral, especially in the summer. City parks are great for recreational activities, especially when you want to enjoy the outdoors but can't get out into the national or state parks.
