What is your favorite park in Anchorage and why?

My favorite park is Far North Bicentennial. I like it because I live near it and it is a large natural space.

Is there a favorite memory of the park?

I have a lot of good memories from coaching students in the park, but one of my favorite memories is a meeting I had with a black bear. He saw me and charged me.

How have you used the park?

I used the park for skiing, biking, hiking and running.

How long have you been using the park and how has your use of the park evolved?

I have used the park for twenty-two years and I use it more now. I do more skiing in the park.

What are your hopes for the future of this park?

I hope that they keep the park in a natural state and that they provide more trail opportunities for park users.

How do you see the role of parks in your community?

I think parks are an important piece of quality of life. I think they provide a place to recreate, to get outside, and to communicate with nature.
