What's your favorite park and why?

My favorite park would have to be Russian Jack. I like how close it is to my house, the beautiful forest it has, and how natural it is. This is a place where you can be with nature and enjoy wildlife.

Do you have a favorite park memory?

I learned to ski and golf out here. I have some good memories of walking my dog and seeing wildlife.

How have you used the park?

I use the park for walking, skiing, golfi ng, and spending time with high school interns, teaching them about different plants. I have used the park for thirty years -- I started skiing here but after a while I started using the park more.

What are your hopes for the future of the park?

I want the forest to stay and as development occurs I hope they keep the springs that are down in the park. I would like to see more care for the park and to keep improving it.

How do you see the role of parks in your community?

I see parks as important. Trails and parks defi ne Anchorage without them Anchorage is just another American city. The make Anchorage worth something.
