My favorite Anchorage parks are Kincaid Park and Far North Bicentennial Park because of the excellent Nordic skiing opportunities they offer. It is amazing how many trails we have in this town and how accessible they are to the public. Skiers from other parts of the country are amazed to hear that I can literally ski from right outside the doors of my school. These trails have been a great asset for me in my development as a skier.
Many people in this city do not recognize what a great situation we have for skiing here in the city. Skiers from the lower-48 are always very impressed with our ski culture here in Anchorage. They are amazed at how many people cross-country ski, and how many trails we have. They are also amazed that the media covers Nordic skiing here in Anchorage. I believe that our Nordic ski infrastructure here in Anchorage is a great asset for the city, and is another thing that makes us a very unique American city.
